Promoting Greatness in America, Where Ordinary People Accomplish The Extraordinary. Frank Lynch University shall create the leading and foremost, world-class University of 10,000 students and a 400 member faculty focused on (1) preparing teachers for all levels of education, with a concentration on teaching a love of mathematics, science, and engineering; and (2) providing Undergraduate through Post-Doctoral programs in the full range of mathematics, sciences, and engineering. Frank Lynch University shall become the foremost and greatest University in America in its chosen areas by seeking out the leading and most qualified faculty and students, and by nurturing and demanding excellence in every way possible. Frank Lynch University seeks to inspire its students to personal greatness by teaching that it is not sufficient merely to become competent members of their professions, but that they should constantly question everything, and struggle to become innovators, inventors and leaders. Surely if my father, Frank W. Lynch, who as a child who had to pick through garbage to get shoes, can found a University such as this, its students may stand on his shoulders to reach up to Greatness. We plan to become a major, normal, full-fledged, private non-profit University, as that term is commonly perceived, licensed by the state and fully accredited by a recognized regional accreditation organization, offering formal college instruction at the undergraduate and post-graduate level, with a formal, regularly scheduled curriculum and a full-time, regular faculty of qualified teachers, holding doctoral degrees in the subjects which they teach, recruited from well known, fully accredited universities, and a regularly enrolled student body in attendance in facilities where the educational activities are regularly carried on; to participate in federal and state educational and financial aid and incentive programs; and to have the normal functions, operations, programs and pursuits incidental to a fully recognized and operational non-profit center of higher learning and research. One major difference raising the quality of the learning experience will be that we refuse to use graduate students as teaching assistants. I earned my Bachelors degree from Purdue University, and Masters from Northwestern University, with extra enrichment summer school studies at the University of California at Berkeley. I felt cheated, and really hated it, when those institutions used slave labor graduate students instead of professors to conduct some of my classes. Generally, those graduate students had no enthusiasm, training, or aptitude for teaching, and their use in place of professors constituted a multiple abuse both of we students, and of the graduate students being forced to teach so their professors could avoid teaching. The primary job of our professors will be teaching. This important difference should make Frank Lynch University a vastly superior learning experience.
