NOTE:
Frank Lynch
University™ is a startup in the fundraising stage and is not conducting
any classes at this time. Student applications for the first classes may
be posted and available for download here beginning in January 2014. for
opening in September 2014.
Frank Lynch
University™ has been the only leader in promoting true educational
reform since 2004. Everyone else is merely repeating John Dewey's
concepts from World War I, or else has been cutting and pasting from
this website and from
www.franklynch.org , ignoring the copyrights.
We have been actively promoting awareness
that US student scores have been dropping for twenty years,
approximately the same period of time during which the US average family
income has been declining. During that same twenty years, scores have been increasing in
most of the civilized world, with the
result that, depending on the year and the subject tested, US students
rank between 19th to 31st out of 31 nations tested.
The most common college course for native
born American citizens is "learning to read English at the 10th grade
level."
The average US college graduate, i.e., with
a 16th grade degree, reads at the 10th grade level. Fewer than 40% of
the freshmen in a four year college complete their degree within six
years, and their most common major is "women's issues'" We all know how
employers are stampeding to hire people who borrowed money to learn
about women's issues.
Frank Lynch
University™
has successfully introduced to the gubnatorial and Presidential levels,
and to the national network TV talks shows, the concept that college graduates
should have the skills necessary to get a job. During the nine years of
Frank's campaign, we still see little hope that the USA will produce
enough students with the full skill set required to maintain our
civilization, so that, barring an actual revolution, today's students
are more likely to be farm and sex slaves for China, and have little
chance of achieving the obsolete American Dream as adults. If you would
like a better future than that for our young people, there is only one
alternative:
THIS PAGE WAS WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED IN
2004,
and has changed the national
dialogue on education. Fareed Zakaria on his CNN GPS show has been
adopting these ideas for the last few years, but they first received
national attention with the hordes of political consultants, advisors,
strategists, etc. who came to Frank Lynch
University™ as a result of Frank's
2007 Presidential Campaign. Of
course, they cannot charge their bosses $300,000 or $1,000,000 a year if
they say they copied it from Frank! We are irritated that some copycat got
$125 million out of Exxon for the theme which we created.
Even Exxon Mobil has picked up Frank's theme of improving
and creating more and better teachers of Math, medicine, science, and
engineering with a barrage of TV ads in the summer of 2012.
Compare the Exxon websites at
http://www.exxonmobil.com/Corporate/community_math.aspx
and
with this page, which from 2004 has been
clamoring about America's disgraceful international rankings in math,
biomed, science and engineering, which copycats have renamed as STEM,
but which has been the dominant theme at
www.fluni.com for more than eight
years.
Today Cyberwarfare is all the buzz in
Washington. We had it first HERE
in 2005, seven years ahead everybody.
The
most important thing you can do for the future of
America is to donate
Frank Lynch University™ is dedicated to
curing our catastrophic, absolutely nation destroying shortage of 3,000,000
medical, math, science and engineering teachers.
From being number one in the world, our
children now score behind 22 nations in math and science tests, but we
have now increased spending with the result that we lost three places
and now score 25th in math and science. Way to go Obama!. At a
time when science and technology are everything, the number of US
citizens studying these vital areas has been declining for 30
years. We are in danger of [ strike "in danger of" written in
2005. Now, in 2012, the truth is as follows: ]
We definitely are not
producing enough college graduates with useful skills
to sustain our civilization.
We already import almost all our technology
products, from iPods, to cell phones to laptops to aircraft cockpit
displays, and even Dreamliner wings!
Communist China now has more than double [
Update: change "double" to "FIVE" ] times the
number of scientists and engineers as America, and they are good.
Each
year Red China graduates more scientists and engineers than the US
produces
total college graduates,
including our graduates in social work and
women's issues.
More
people score at 10th grade or above reading comprehension
in
English in both China and India than in the USA.
More than half of US high schools do not
have a single course in physics. Many schools use coaches or shop
teachers to teach math and science, or teachers who got "Ds" in their
college science courses.
Unless
America immediately treats the 3,000,000 teacher shortage
with the
same urgency that we treated World War II, we will be reduced to a
plantation
growing food for China and India.
America urgently needs 3,000,000 teachers
who can teach not only the subject matter of medicine, math, science and
engineering, but who can teach the LOVE of these wonderful subjects. We
need 3,000,000 teachers who can motivate and inspire our children to not
only make careers in these areas, but to excel and to lead the world in
medicine, math, science and engineering.
To create 3,000,000 inspiring specialized
teachers, we must build a university that will set the national example
of the very best specialized teachers. We must invent a new curriculum
to educate and motivate these specialized teachers. The old curricula do
not work, judging by the results. Our new university must
set the example for all the other teachers' colleges to imitate and
adopt.
Most importantly, we must glorify and
glamorize careers in medicine, math, science and engineering to inspire
our children to these careers. The first step is a national awareness
campaign targeting Hollywood, our elected officials, the media, and
school boards throughout the land. We must become propagandists
promoting these subjects as the highest and best forms of achievement
for our children.
Simultaneously, our national campaign must
portray math, science and engineering as fun and as being within the
attainment of all of our children, not just the white suburban elite.
Of course, to accomplish a major national
awareness campaign, we must pay for rallies, travel to TV guest
appearances, and major efforts to lobby the news media, cable, TV
networks for PSA time for free publicity, and lobbying Hollywood.
